Rocky Jordan - Old Time Radio

Rocky Jordan

The character of Rocky Jordan first appeared in a 1945 radio show, "A Man Named Jordan" about a rugged minded restaurant owner in Istanbul. Rocky Jordan premiered on CBS on October 31, 1948, paused on September 10, 1950, and resumed throughout the summer of 1951.

Owner of Cafe Tambourine, Jordan was originally from St. Louis, and moved to San Francisco where he owned a restaurant of the same name. In Cairo, Jordan inadvertently found himself involved with mysteries, crimes, or intriguing women. The dialogue was written in the noir style of pulp magazines, quick and unsentimental , peppered with slang from the era. The original music exuded the mystical quality of the Middle Eastern locale.
